Quebec hospital wants 1,000 patients to come in for HIV, Hepatitis tests

The Québec health authorities are demanding that 1,000 patients from a Lévis hospital come in for both HIV, and Hepatitis B & C tests after finding out that the equipment so often used within the hospital was not properly, not to mention frequently sterilized. A situation like this raises many health concerns for patients and doctors alike.

"The risk is small, but the potential infections are important, and they are treatable. So we decided to engage in preventive screening" Said Francois Aumont, the hospital's director of professional services.

Aumont also claims that although the infections are small, they can potentially be highly contagious ones that spread fast and easily to other patients, and even doctors. Which is why they deem to be treated as soon as possible.
