Calgary student dies on Ecuador volcano hike

22 year-old Danielle Kendall was struck by a chunk of ice the size of a car on Sunday, according to the South American news website. She was taking the hike with a guided group, scaling the Cotopaxi volcano in Ecuador's central highlands.

As well as being a top student in the University of Calgary, Kendall was also a valued member on the Uni's track and field team, winning many medal's and national championship prizes for the school. The university sends it's deepest and utmost condolences to the Kendall family, and has placed a memorial in the school in loving memory of their departed student.
